 Funky Firefox Fonts [Solved]
All of a sudden, the fonts in Firefox have started looking odd. Best way to describe it is it looks like a printed page that's just starting to get low on ink.
Got clue? I think I have a profile backup that predates this starting up.
This is Warren's Fx 4.0.1 in M11, system specs in sig line.

 Re: Funky Firefox Fonts
My guess is, this happened after you updated xulrunner. Henry

 Re: Funky Firefox Fonts
I just updated all available packages, which included xulrunner, & my fonts in FF appear normal. I have not performed a reboot, yet.

 Re: Funky Firefox Fonts
Are you using the same version of firefox (4.0.1)? I've been thinking about pinning xulrunner as I've done with firefox. xulrunner has caused bad font rendering before. Henry

 Re: Funky Firefox Fonts
xulrunner-1.9.1.16-14 from Stable is installed. xulrunner-1.9.1.16-15 from Stable is available, but not yet installed. (Showed up just within the last 24-48 hrs.) Interestingly, xulrunner-2.0.1-1mcr110+1 is also installed. Looks like v5.0, 6.0,7.0, and 9.0 are also available in the CR, but are not installed. I'm out of my element here, so will wait for some expert advise before doing anything. Not a big rush. Besides, an infected Vi$ta machine just landed on my doorstep. That should keep me occupied.

The update of the xulrunner-1.9.1 package, to version 1.9.1.16-15, is part of the Debian 6.0.5 upgrade that came out over the weekend. The announcement ( http://www.debian.org/News/2012/20120512) mentions a security update to the iceweasel source package {which xulrunner-1.9.1 is built from}. Even if you have a more recent firefox installed, you still need xulrunner-1.9.1 installed because the icedtea6-plugin package has it as a dependency.

 Re: Funky Firefox Fonts
Applied the update, no change. But it seems the problem is not limited to Firefox -- I've now noticed it in LibreOffice Calc and in Dolphin. Interestingly still, I don't see it in my tarball Thunderbird install.

 Re: Funky Firefox Fonts
Take a look at some of the other Debian 6.0.5 upgrades from my earlier link. I see a security update for freetype (libfreetype6) which might have an affect on fonts. Have you had a recent update for libfreetype6?
