Firefox Security?

#1 Postby knightron » Mon May 21, 2012 11:43 pm

Hello, i'm going through the process of upgrading Debian squeeze to Mepis 11. So far its going smoothly. Mepis comes with Firefox, but is currently using version 9 when version 12 is the current version.
Debian use iceweasel (a rebranded firefox) it's an old version; 3.5, but they back port any security patches from newer versions.
Is it better to use icweasel instead of the firefox the mepis repos provide?

Stevo has had a Firefox 12 package in the Mepis 11 CR testrepo for a while now (since shortly after it was released by Mozilla). Here's his announcement: viewtopic.php?p=299254#p299254

And you can get an up to date iceweasel (currently version 12.0-7~bpo60+1) from here: http://mozilla.debian.net/
